FTA urges local companies to file corporate taxes by May 31

Sharjah24 – WAM: The Federal Tax Authority (FTA) has summoned resident legal entities liable for corporate tax purposes with permits issued in January and February (regardless of the year of issuance) to submit their corporate tax registration application by May 31, 2024, for violation of avoid tax legislation.
In a press statement issued today, the Authority stressed the importance of submitting corporate tax registration applications within the deadlines specified in FTA Decision No. 3 of 2024, which came into effect on March 1, 2024, taking into account that Cabinet Decision No. 10. of 2024 imposed an administrative fine on taxpayers who have not submitted a registration application within the specified period.

Therefore, administrative sanctions are imposed on the taxpayer who does not meet the requirements to submit corporate tax registration applications before the specified deadlines for each category of corporate taxpayers. The decision sets the deadlines for applying for corporate tax registration for both legal entities and natural persons, regardless of whether they are residents or non-residents.

The FTA has called on all stakeholders involved in the implementation of the Corporate Tax Law to review the law, together with all relevant manuals published on the FTA website and all associated decisions, via the following link: https://tax .gov.ae/en/standard.aspx

The FTA reiterated that corporate tax registration is available at all times through the digital tax services platform EmaraTax. It noted that the registration process involves four steps that take approximately 30 minutes. To further facilitate the registration process, taxpayers who are already registered for value added tax (VAT) or excise duties can access their accounts on EmaraTax, complete the corporate tax registration application and submit the required documents. Once the registration request is approved, applicants will receive a Tax Registration Number (TRN) for corporate tax purposes.

The FTA emphasized that non-registered taxpayers subject to corporate tax must create a new user profile. New users can access the EmaraTax platform on the FTA’s e-Services portal at https://eservices.tax.gov.ae/, where they can create an account using their email address and phone number. Once the user profile is created, they can proceed with the registration by identifying the taxpayer, selecting the “Tax Registration” option and easily completing the registration process.

The FTA allows taxpayers to submit corporate tax registration applications through multiple government service centers in the UAE, where specialists can assist them. These centers provide electronic services that meet government standards and are managed by trained and qualified staff to ensure quality of service.

Once the application procedures are completed and the accuracy of the electronically entered data is verified at the service center, FTA officials will review the applications. The applicant will receive his tax registration number (TRN) via the email address stated in the application he submitted for corporate tax registration.
